Lebanese Snacks at Rimal

At the Carrefour D'Odeon in the 6th arrondisement of Paris, there's a great little Lebanese place with a nice variety of snacks. Rimal is conveniently located at a vibrant crossroad and is well worth a visit after a trip to one of the three cinemas in the area or for a late night snack.

We popped in one Saturday afternoon when most French restaurants are inconveniently closed and had a very good mixed platter of vegetarian appetisers: Hummous (mashed chickpea), Mouttabal (a paste of grilled aubergine, seasoned with lemon and garlic), tabbouleh (a mixture of bulgar wheat, red onion and vine tomatoes, mixed with finely chopped parsley and mint), Monk's salad (with aubergine and tomatoes), falafel (a pan fried ball of mashed chickpea), fatayer (small spinach pastry).

Everything tasted fresh and light. It was a great way to share a snack, dipping the flatbread into the various mixtures, and mopping up the remains at the end.

We washed it down with a refreshing mint tea: fresh mint leaves and pine nuts brewed with black tea. This was served with a couple of small baklava each: deliciously sweet with a crispy pastry that leaves you wanting more.

Rimal is a very clean and nicely decorated place, with friendly staff and very reasonably priced food. We look forward to trying some of the other delights. There is a counter of ready-made snacks such as warm meats, pastries and salads. There are also freshly made grilled flatbread sandwiches, charwarmas and skewers.

Rimal has 3 restaurants in Paris, offers take-out and delivery . Check out the website for more info:
